Entry # 1. My SQL Odyssey
Hello there, I'm writing today to pull back the curtain and introduce myself to whoever may be reading. My name is Lago Soto, and I'm looking forward to sharing a little piece of my world with all of you. While I don't have very many hobbies or interests, I do want to focus on a particular skill that I am learning: writing SQL code. I know, SQL isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a hobby, but for me, it's something that quickly became a passion, which keeps me engaged and excited for my future.
In my free time, I like to explore databases, always looking and learning about how to implement SQL. I wasn't always so captivated by data. In fact, up until about 3 years ago, I found every aspect of data and coding to be beyond confusing. But once it was introduced to me as a possible pathway for a new career, I was immediately hooked. Let me tell you why I find it so captivating.

SQL, or Structured Query Language, is the backbone of data management. It allows you to interact with databases, retrieve valuable information, and manipulate data to extract certain insights. Now, this may not make much sense to those who aren't familiar with databases, and database management. But this type of language is used by Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Database Administrators, and many other career titles. While I am still very much at an entry level with this particular skill, every line of code I write is a step towards mastering this powerful tool. Once I began learning, I quickly realized that this skillset could open doors to numerous career opportunities, as the world of data analytics and database management is constantly expanding.

I'm hooked Lago! So excited to follow along with your journey to conquer SQL. I can tell, just from your tone, that this is something you find incredibly enjoyable, and that makes it fun to read. Do you have any concerns about how AI will affect the job market for data analysts?
ReplyDeleteI actually have the opposite feelings towards AI when it comes to data analytics! I think it can improve efficiency and accuracy if used correctly. Although I know the concern is for AI to take over completely, I feel there is still plenty of human aspects in the job market for that not to happen. But I suppose only time will tell!
DeleteHey Lago! Your SQL entry is awesome. As a Computer Science student, I totally get your excitement for learning this language and how it's become a passion for you. The way you explain the importance of SQL is clear and captivating.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kamran that your passion and interest in SQL and this topic shine through in your writing here. Off to a good start.
